Ravindu Laksiri and Chanithma Sinaly Dominate at 45th Senior National Squash Championship 2025

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – 45th Senior National Squash Championship 2025 concluded on 30th December 2025, at the Air Force Squash Complex in Ratmalana, cementing the dominance of the nation’s top-ranked players. Organized by Sri Lanka Squash (SLS), the tournament served as a prestigious PSA Satellite event, allowing local athletes to secure critical world ranking points following a historic year for the sport.

In the Men’s Open category, the undisputed national star Ravindu Laksiri continued his remarkable streak, securing his 13th consecutive national title. Laksiri, who was also named the PSA Player of the Year 2024, demonstrated his world-class calibre by defeating Shamil Wakeel in a competitive final. His victory capped a phenomenal season where he reached a career-high world ranking of 106 and secured multiple international titles while Shamil Wakeel expected to finish within world top 200 by end of 2025.

The Women’s Open title was successfully defended by Chanithma Sinaly for the 3rd time, who showcased exceptional skill to overcome Ranliya Wood in the final. Sinaly’s victory further validates her status as a rising force in Asian squash, following her strong performances in PSA International tournaments across India, Australia, and Hong Kong throughout 2025.

The championship, which was slightly rescheduled from its original early December dates, saw high participation across various age and skill categories. The event was graced by Mr Dhammika Wijesundara as Chief guest and the Executive Committee members of Sri Lanka Squash.
