The Sri Lanka Squash 45th Anniversary Championship 2026, organized by the Sri Lanka Squash Federation in celebration of its 45th anniversary, concluded successfully on 10 May 2026 at the Air Force Squash Complex.
The prestigious tournament featured a wide range of categories, including Open Men’s and Women’s events, alongside Masters categories for players aged 35, 40, 50, and 55 years and above. Junior competitions were also conducted in the Under-09, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 age groups, providing an excellent platform for emerging young talent to showcase their abilities.
The championship witnessed intense and highly competitive encounters throughout the tournament. In the Open Men’s final, Shamil Vakeel delivered an outstanding performance to clinch the championship title, while Ifra Sasmin Buso emerged victorious in the Open Women’s category. Their achievements reflected exceptional dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship displayed during the competition.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony was graced by former President of the Sri Lanka Squash Federation, Palitha Weerasinghe, as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by Secretary of Sri Lanka Squash, Eranga Alwis, Vice President of Sri Lanka Squash, Kaminda Silva, along with several distinguished officials and invited guests.
The successful conduct of the championship further highlighted the continued growth and development of squash in Sri Lanka while commemorating the remarkable 45-year journey of Sri Lanka Squash.
